The Poet Sings

so when the bells ring and the poet sings
Bills reign like rainbow rains in Kilimanjaro
Waterfalls if they exist as buffalos he posits in key
with a drum roll he campaigns rhodess must fall
but the firepool remains while fools white or black
take lessons in pronouncing Nkandla.
the poet sings syllables in synonyms
anonymous and brave he remains nameless histories
the poet sings.
Syllabuses en route in busses
he is national conferences
the poet sings.
black is a pink drink while white is a cheap beer
the poet sings.
while he sleeps with the orange enemy
with one eye on the money and the other on the honey
his blood is green, his body gold and his mind-is red with fury
the poet sings.
brings deprivation in a starved nation
he motions sings and dances
in his rain the poet sings.
people point and paint his balls pink
still...
with skill,
the poet still sings.
Again
and
Again
Forever.
And for Always...
The Poet Sings.
